The suns got jacked..no justice in the NBA

For all of you dedicated nba fans out there you are probably quite aware of the importance of the San Antonio- Phoenix series. Some say that this is the nba finals right now so there is no need to watch anything else after this. I couldn't agree more, this is the marquee match up in the league and a shame that they meet in the second round of the western conference playoffs. So everything is going along nicely in the series, plenty of drama, spurs strike first and take back home court advantage, and then the scrappy suns led by my man nashy fight back to regain control. By the way doesn't nash look like that kid in breaking away, that eighties movie. Then the series, like most desperate struggles between powerhouses in the same conference, takes the inevitable turn towards the chippy and dirty shots. So when rob horry at the end of game four hip checks little nashy into the scorers table his teammates spring from the bench a little too far and are suspended for a game for that. The suns go on to lose game five without the two players that left the bench, two of their best players, first team all nba amare stoudamire, and boris diow. All for the bargain basement price of crappy horry.
The comissh really blew this one, because even though it is a rule that is known to all, the circumstances really needed some judgement by him. What else would you expect from teammates after your little guy who just so happens to be a two time mvp gets jacked almost into the first row. Could you imagine someone slams your best player to the ground and you just sit there yawning. The rule doesn't take into account human instinct which is to defend your own, and also they technically didn't enter into the frey. It in effect rewarded horry for his cheap shot and at the same time showed a glaring hole in the dont come off the bench rule. Look i do get the fact that you can't have players running onto the court every time there is a hard foul or you will have chaos. But, the comissh should realize that this is all he has as well, this is the series that will decide it all and that he should make a judgement call on this one. If he had stepped in when bruce bowen kneed nash in the groin maybe he wouldn't have had to deal with all this. He didn't and i hope it doesn't cost the suns.

For the steelers pimp'in aint easy

A former steelers linebacker was accused of pimping and was jailed in pittsburgh on a warrant issued in Nevada. Richard Seigler, who was on the Steelers practice squad last year, was arraigned and then promptly released by the team. He is facing three prostitution-related felonies including pandering and living from the earnings of a prostitute. He was apparantly accused of persuading a woman to become a pro by paying for her ticket from wasington to las vegas where she engaged in "activities" and then seigler took all or some of the earnings.
I guess you have to supplement your income somehow and this is i guess how the steelers, always one of the cheapest teams in the league, have now forced the hand of their players to get a second job. Maybe they could have a meeting in training camp on how to, instead of blocking and tackling drills, do that pimp slap, how to talk pimpin, or how to aquire that slanted pimp walk.

Brady and the yankee cap.

So recently mr. golden boy, all apologies to de la hoya, Tom Brady was seen walking around the streets of New York wearing a...a..yankee cap. The collective screams you just heard are coming from Red Sox fans who feel as though they've just been blindsided by another yankee trick. It has been reported that possibly he has been influnced by his new york living supermodel Giselle and that maybe he was just trying to go unnoticed in the big city by blending in. O.k. ill give him that, wearing the cap in N.Y. is good cover and is maybe helps him go a little cognito with that. Or is it the ol new girlfriend syndrome that has him wearing whatever she wants him to wear, yes honey ill wear your yankee cap if it makes you happy. Where is Brady's guile, his spunk, his man-up-it-ness. This is definately brady not man-upping it, especially since it shows something even more troubling than said cap in the same picture, a man purse. Yes thats right, in the same picture he is shown wearing that seinfeld parady the "murse" or commonly know as the dreaded un-manley manpurse. Shame on you brady, i dont know which one i am more ashamed of, now its a toss up, murse or benedict arnold cap. Whats next, will brady when he goes overseas put a canadian flag on his luggage and claim canadian citizenship, all the while searching his murse for his passport? All i know is this, brady, get your stones out of you murse, put on a real mans baseball cap and the next time i see you in the media i hope you're doing something a little more manly, like shotguning a beer or watching bullriding or something.

Happytrails Dallas

Last night the Golden State Warriors, an eight seed, beat the favorite to win it all this year the Dallas Mavericks. Im not going to say i told you so, but i kinda did. I just felt that this team, that everyone was sold on, was just an mvp choke artist (dirk) away from being shown the door. This furthur magnifies my point on dirk nowitzki that he is no mvp...not even close. This is a seven footer in love with shooting threes that is slow and doesn't make his other teamates better. He often looks for others in critical situations to have that moxy to take pressure shots, and rarely shows up in the big game...hmmm...sounds like to me this guys an mvp right? Everyone for whatever reason was all on him to win it though, the fact is the guy doesn't have that characteristic that most truly great players have, that killer instinct to never lose. Jordan most definately had it, magic, bird, even kobe has that desire to never ever let up and go down swinging. Eight points in the elimination game for the mvp last night, what a joke. And mark cuban how can you not root for his team to lose, that wwf type of owner of the mavs that is as arrogant as he is annoying constantly right in mix at the end of the bench and grimaceing with every tough situation...can he just go to the owners box already and show a little class. How annoying must that be as a player as well that this owner is always wanting some of that spotlight so he is always in your grill, right over your shoulder, get away you weasel!
Just to put it in perspective, and i know some of you could care less about the nba, the mavericks record this year was 67-14 and they got beat by a team that barely made the playoffs in the warriors with a record of 42-40. Just to keep in mind the other best records of all time in the nba are: Chicago in 19995 with 72-10; Lakers in 1971 with 69-13; Boston in 1972 with 68-14; 76ers in 1966 with 68-13. This also ushers in the new era in the nba, the era of fastbreak helter skelter threes and fun basketball to watch, no more half courts boring sets to put you to sleep. The suns do it to perfection, the warriors do it now and i hope more follow suit.

Dallas is in for a long series.

Well as we all may or may not know the n.b.a. playoffs have begun this week so you can all set your tivo's right now and get settled in. I know some of you are saying things like, oh i don't care about that crap, but remember that all of that going through the motions regular season stuff is over. I am a sucker for some of the playoff matchups, and some you should actually be watching: heat vs. bulls, san antonio vs. denver, new jersey vs. toronto, and dallas vs. golden state. All of these listed you have to check out if its on, especially the dallas G state matchup. Playoffs are of course so much better, with intensity ratcheted up and players getting rest with no back to back games it gives you all you want in an nba game. Now this brings me to my big series of the first round, the golden state-dallas matchup. This is what you want in a nba series: athletic underdog vs. supposedly best team in the league, former coach of dallas (don nelson) now with the golden state left Dallas with tons of animosity for the owner of the mavericks mr. p.t cuban, and not to mention that he knows all of the players weaknesses on dallas, and finally golden state has in their arsenal a plethora of young hungry athletic players that seem to have Dallas's number. Everyone has been on the dallas bandwagon for this whole season, with crappy nowitzki supposedly the frontrunner for mvp, well let me tell you something, im calling it right now...golden state brings down the team with the best record and supposedly the best player in the first round.

Im Back and I've Got an Ipswitch to Pick with You

Although i have been slightly neglegent with my blog, i am back with a vengence and ready to bring some new jibberish to your attention. If you're like me you have always been infatuated with the english soccer league names, i mean it always sounds like they invented funny, silly words just to tickle the ear. It doesn't hurt that some leprechaun sounding announcer says them so cutsie i just want to curl up with a teddy bear a warm glass of milk and some ipswitch and soddingford. When i read some of these names i feel as if it is the dawn of the english language, some old english professor with a quill in hand twisting and turning the language so that it scoots and squirms its way to a very pleasing sound to the ear. So enjoy, and after my research i have listed some of my favorites in alphabetical order. Oh, it does help if you say them aloud and in an english accent. Some are easy and some are suprisingly more difficult requiring a double take. So take a look you sodding ginger!

These are a compilation of the Premier League, Football Conference, Nothern Premier League, Southern League, Isthmian League. All different levels of english soccer. I highlighted some of my favorites.
